Overview

For my final semester as the President of our program’s graphic design club, I decided to leave my mark by refreshing the club’s visual identity and improving it’s overall organization system(s). With the club approaching its 10-year anniversary(!!!), the way it carried itself organization-wise and it's under-developed branding was not up to where I felt it could be.

Approach & Deliverables

I wanted to develop of system that could empower and actually resonate with students, both on the membership side and on the Officer side. Something that felt sophisticated but had a loose, playful quality that could express itself a bit differently with each year's team. With that in mind, I created an extensive set of responsive logos, brand marks, established a more concrete tone of voice and ethos, and used those to inform the design of things like club t-shirts, stickers/buttons, and social media advertising.

Additional Thoughts

My first semester as President was mostly just figuring out where I stood. Planning meetings, trying to get organized, seeing how my Officers and I meshed as a team, seeing how big of a membership base I would be working with. It was a valuable transition period as it helped me uncover what I ultimately wanted for the club. My second and final semester is where this analysis produced what you just saw. While I wonder what more we could have accomplished with more time, I feel strongly that we laid a good precedent and foundation for the club to carry forward as it grows and changes in the years to come, and I'm quite proud of that.
